The weather is dreary and is showing no signs of letting up, but that shouldn't stop you from getting up and moving. Here are five things going on in the area that should keep your blood pumping and your spirits high in spite of the wet weather.
Start your day with a kick! This high-energy 7 a.m. class at Midwood Martial Arts & Family Fitness Center combines kicking and punching drills with other cardio aspects of Muy Thai and Karate, creating an intense--and fun--workout for teens and adults.

Drop-ins are welcome, no need to pre-register. Your first class at MMA & FFC is $10, and there are class packages that you can purchase for future classes. The pay-as-you-go price is $14 for students and seniors, $16 for adults.

At 3:45 p.m. bring young children to tumble in a safe place as well as develop strength, flexibility and self confidence. Children ages 3 to 5 will learn exercises and routines in a fun way--with music, games, and props--while introducing traditional techniques and encouraging creativity.
Ages 6-12 can get in on the fun at 4:30 p.m. This class builds on the minor tumbling experience they may have, and introduces new moves and routines.

This evening, head to Latin Fever Dance Studio at 1609 Cortelyou Road for an hour of karate.
At 5 p.m., Sensei Lowe is teaching mixed level karate. The class costs $60 per month. Call (718)693-2488 for more information.
At 6:15 p.m., the studio is holding an open level karate class for children ages 7-12. Children will go through some skills and moves, which will help improve their techniques, all while having fun.

The class, beginning at 7 p.m., is for students looking for a low-impact workout. This class at Midwood Martial Arts & Family Fitness Center at 1302 Avenue H is for women only. Classes are between $14 and $16 for drop-ins, but class packages are available, which lowers the per-class price.
Dancers with some experience can burn calories and have fun doing it in this 7 p.m. salsa class from Dwane Austin at 1609 Cortelyou Road.
