- Flatbush Avenue in Little Haiti is now co-named in honor of the influential Haitian pioneer and founder of Chicago, Jean Baptiste Point du Sable. Elected officials hope the co-naming serves as a "beacon of hope" to their Haitian community. (News 12 Brooklyn)
- The United States will allow Haitians and citizens of five other countries to apply for temporary work visas in the U.S., starting next year, after the Trump administration removed Haiti from the program in 2018. (Haitian Times)
- Black women are eight times more likely to die from pregnancy complications than white women, according to a new study released by New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams. The report suggests, among other measures, passing a maternal health bill of rights. (Brooklyn Paper)
- All New York City adults ages 18 and older are eligible for coronavirus vaccine boosters, provided they got their last shot at least six months ago. The city's health commissioner made the announcement, hoping to avoid a winter surge in cases. (NYC Patch)
