- Another deli worker was shot in Flatbush on Tuesday evening, after an apparent attempted robbery. The man, Fadhl Moosa, 20, was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. Mayor-elect Adams appeared on the scene the next day to express his concern over the incident, attributing it to a proliferation of guns on New York City streets. He said he's planning on frequently visiting crime scenes. (amNY)
- A 63-year-old man's death in East Flatbush on October 9th was just reclassified as a homocide by the NYPD. Jean-Denis Renold was found unconscious with brain trauma by police after an apparent double-parking incident, and died several days later. (WPIX 11 New York)
- Flatbush housing activists protested outside of State Senator Kevin Parker's office on December 9th, asking him to support passing "Good Cause Eviction" in the State Senate. The bill would give protection to approximately 1.6 million New York tenants that live in apartments without rent-regulation. (The Indypendent)
- The highly contagious Omicron COVID variant is making the rounds in New York City. According to the CDC it could already make up to 13% of all cases in New York and New Jersey, as compared to just 3% in the rest of the country. (NYC Patch)
