Flatbush Gun Buyback Offering $200 for Working Handguns and Assault Rifles

Earn $200 this weekend for each working handgun and assault rifle you turn in at a buyback hosted by the Brooklyn DA's office.

EAST FLATBUSH, BROOKLYN — The Brooklyn District Attorney's office will pay $200 for working handguns and assault rifles this Sunday in East Flatbush.

The buyback will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Clarendon Road Church, located at 3304 Clarendon Rd.

The DA's website provides additional information about this event, and you can always call 311 with further questions, but here are the basics:

  • Anyone who is not currently in law enforcement, retired from the force, or a licensed gun dealer can turn in guns
  • You don't need to present an ID at the buyback
  • No questions will be asked about how the gun was obtained
  • Guns must be wrapped in a plastic or paper bag, or placed in a box
  • If you're driving guns to the buyback, store them in your trunk on your way there
  • Rifles and shotguns will also be accepted, but the DA's office will pay $25 for those weapons
  • You can turn in as many guns as you'd like, but you'll be paid for a maximum of three weapons
