Get Out! Have a Very Green Ditmas Park Weekend
Many events focused on giving back to the community this weekend

Tons of community events that will improve the neighborhood and the environment-at-large are happening this weekend, as well as a stoop sale, bike rides and performances.

- Join cyclists from the neighborhood Friday at 7 p.m. for the weekly Ditmas Rides. The purpose is purely for a fun, relaxing group ride through Ditmas Park's streets and there is no planned route; it's decided upon before each ride. Those interested should gather in front of the Cortelyou Library. To be added to the emailing list, click here.
- Campus Road Trees, a community group committed to caring for street trees along Campus Rd., is looking for volunteers to help build tree guards Friday from 12-4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
- Newkirk Cares Collaborative, a community intiative to improve the Newkirk Ave. corridor, is holding its final greening day of the season at 10 a.m. Saturday.
- A two-family stoop sale is being held at 10 a.m. Saturday next to the Ave. H tot lot. Many items will be up for sale, including toys, books, clothes and shoes for boys and girls ages infant to 4-years-old, kids gear including a manual breastpump, baby bathtub, different Dr. Brown bottle items such as a drying rack, and bottle warmer, kitchen items, a fan and other houshold odds and ends.
- Bring your compostable food waste to the Flatbush Reformed Church Community Garden at 11 a.m. on Saturday, where Sustainable Flatbush will add them to their compost bins. The compost site is located behind the church, on East 21st Street between Kenmore Terrace and Church Avenue. - Yoon Choi is putting on Jazz for the FamilySunday at 4 p.m. at Lark Cafe. Choi will be performing jazz standards and other great songs in two short little sets with two fellow jazz musicians; Khabu Doug Young on ukulele and Mike McGinnis on bass clarinet.
