Get Out: Weekend Events in Ditmas Park

Every Friday, Ditmas Park Patch will let you know what's going on for the upcoming weekend. Here's this week's run-down:

Join cyclists from the neighborhood Friday at 7 p.m. for the weekly . The purpose is purely for a fun, relaxing group ride through Ditmas Park's streets and there is no planned route; it's decided upon before each ride. Bring your compostable food waste to the Flatbush Reformed Church Community Garden, where Sustainable Flatbush will add them to their compost bins Saturday at 11 a.m. The compost site is located behind the church, on East 21 Street between Kenmore Terrace and Church Avenue. For more information about the composting site and what you can compost, visit the Sustainable Flatbush website.

Bring the kids to the  on Saturday at 11 a.m. to prepare for the upcoming Kindergarten school year. 

Macy's is sponsoring  on Saturdays throughout the summer to offer children 15 and under quality fishing instruction and an introduction to aquatic ecology. Children, accompanied by a parent or guardian, will learn about recreational fishing, fishing safety, and fish-friendly techniques. The clinics take place at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Please note: Kids must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All-day Sunday beginning at 8 a.m. in front of the Cortelyou Library, shop for produce and more year-round at . Vendors sell a range of products, including fruits and vegetables, cheese, eggs, turkey, mushrooms, bread, fish and more.
