Local Band Lucius Looks to Fundraise to Replace Instruments
After their instruments and van were stolen from a Ditmas Park block, local band Lucius decided to get to work to replace their gear.
Local band Lucius is releasing a campaign video and compilation CD that will be sold to raise funds to replace instruments that were taken when .
The group has teamed up with other local bands to record a compilation CD of over a dozen songs that will be sold through the campaign to raise funds. The CD will be available for purchase early May.
The band's tan 2009 Ford E350 van was stolen from East 17th St. and Ditmas Park Ave. April 19. Inside the van was $15,000 in instruments, including drums, snares, keyboards, guitars, amps and merchandise, said Jess Wolfe, a singer with the band.

"We never leave our stuff in the van," said Danny Molad, the drummer for Lucius and Wolfe's fiancé. He said the band had just come home from playing a show at the Mercury Lounge in Manhattan and had a show there the next night, so they decided to not bring the instruments into the house for such a short period of time.
Since then, they have had to improvise to remain in action, borrowing instruments from friends and making due with what they have left. "We've had to change our normal configuration," Wolfe said.

Although the band might be without most of their gear, that won't stop them from taking the stage at in Prospect Park the weekend of May 19 and 20. Lucius is part of a lineup that includes groups such as Hall & Oates and The Roots.
