- Assemblymember Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn celebrated the opening of a maternal healthcare center in Flatbush, run by the Morris Heights Health Center. Maternal care is personal for Hermelyn, who in 2016 was forced to deliver her baby pre-term, who shortly passed away. (Twitter)
- Politicians and faith leaders mourned the loss of NYPD officers at a vigil held in Harlem Saturday night. Mayor Eric Adams placed the blame for an increase in shootings on the stream of illegal firearms entering New York City, and called on the federal government to intervene. Pastor Gil Monrose of the 67th Precinct Clergy Council spoke with Adams and other faith leaders on a Zoom call. (amNY)
- Advocates and politicians are amping up pressure on Governor Kathy Hochul to pass the Build Public Renewables Act, which would allow New York State to build renewable energy plants and transition more rapidly away from fossil fuels. The bill is sponsored by State Senator Kevin Parker, who chairs the Energy Committee. It's also strongly supported by his challenger, DSA-endorsed David Alexis. (City & State)
