Mathieu Eugene Among Officials to Celebrate Haitian Flag Day
The councilman, Speaker Christine Quinn, Borough President Marty Markowitz and other elected officials are hosting a Haitian Flag Day celebration this Friday

Council member Mathieu Eugene, D- Ditmas Park, Speaker Christine Quinn, Borough President Marty Markowitz and other elected officials are hosting a Haitian Flag Day celebration this Friday at 6 p.m. to commemorate the history, heritage and culture of Haiti.
Eugene will present proclamations from the New York City Council to individuals who have made significant contributions to the Haitian community.
Those to be honored include the late Gil Noble, producer and host of WABC-TV's Like It Is. His daughter, Lisa Noble, will accept the proclamation on behalf of her father.

Charles Dessalines, the great grandson of Jean-Jacques Dessalines, one of the founding fathers of the Haitian nation, will also be honored.
Following the ceremony, there will be food and refreshments provided in the rotunda of Borough Hall, located at 209 Joralemon Street. Throughout the event there will also be live performances from artists and musicians, as well as presentations and remarks from leaders in the Haitian community.
