  1. Mayor-elect Adams' inauguration will take place at Kings Theater in the heart of Flatbush, breaking from the traditional venue outside of City Hall. The location marks the increasing political power of Brooklyn, which will now be home to three city-wide representative: Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, Comptroller Brad Lander, and Adams himself.   2. A man was sentenced to 11 years in prison for an attack on a man in East Flatbush three years ago. The court determined it was motived by anti-Semitism. (NBC New York)
  3. Cara Williams, a Flatbush-born actress, died at 96 on December 9th. She appeared in films and TV shows throughout the 50s and 60s, and even hosted The Cara Williams Show for one season before it was cancelled. (Brooklyn Daily Eagle)
  4. A man from Flatbush, Joel Mangal, 38, was charged by the Brooklyn District Attorney's office with throwing a Molotov cocktail into a Bed-Stuy bodega. After the cocktail exploded in flames he then fled the scene before being arrested on the subway platform at the Nostrand Avenue A/C stop. (Brooklyn Reader)
  5. The city finally provided clarity on Tuesday about the Middle and High School admissions process. In short–test scores and attendance won't be a factor in admissions, but grades and projects will, and arts schools will still hold admissions.
