New Businesses Stream in to Ditmas Park

Some of the many empty storefronts in the neighborhood are beginning to see new life again, with a variety of new businesses already open or readying for their first day.

New businesses in Ditmas Park include: 

• Bismillah Auto Parts on Cortelyou Rd. and Coney Island Avenue. The new shop located at 1002 Cortelyou Road, formerly Liberty Tax Service, is open for business. 

• Sultan Grill: Fried Chicken on Coney Island Avenue near Cortelyou Rd. The new shop promises gyro, falafel, kebab, pizza, and of course, fried chicken, and will be "coming soon," according to the sign out front. 

• Adelynn’s Restaurant & Grill on Newkirk Ave. between East 16 and 17 Streets. The new shop located at 1610 Newkirk Avenue promises to be the "new taste in town" and is open from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. 

• Richie Rich Caribbean Taste specializing in Seafood will be making its mark at 1219 Church Ave. It promises to be open 24 hours a day and will cater for all occasions. "We will be opening soon" a banner in the storefront's window says. 

• Friendly Rx. Pharmacy on Coney Island Avenue near Slocum Pl. is still in a bare-bones phase of development, but the storefront is large and already has phone and fax numbers displayed for contact.
