Police Blotter: Peace Officer Attacked with Screwdriver; Robberies

Robberies and assaults amongst recent crimes in the 70th precinct.

Peace Officer Attacked with Screwdriver 

When a peace officer attempted to stop a van that was picking up and dropping off multiple passengers along Flatbush Ave. on Wed., Sept. 19 at 9:40 a.m., things did not go according to plan. The van fled, and after a short pursuit, stopped on Farragut Road and Ocean Ave. A man, 32, jumped out of the van and attacked the peace officer, stabbing him three times in the hand with a screw driver. The man was pulled off the peace officer by two other men and then arrested.

Driver Punched After Honking at Another Vehicle

On Sun., Sept. 16, at approximately 3:30 p.m., a 43-year-old man was driving along Ocean Parkway when a vehicle cut him off, which he responded to by honking. The vehicle then stopped at the light on Ocean Parkway and Foster Ave., a passenger got out and punched the man in the face, bruising his eye and cutting his lips. The case is currently under investigation. 

 

Teenagers' Property Taken at Parade Ground

On Tues., Sept. 11 at 3 p.m., a 15-year-old boy had $250 wort of property stolen while he played at the baseball court, including his iPod touch, wallet, glasses, identification and phone. At the same time, another 15-year-old boy had $40 worth of property stolen while he played at the parade ground, including his book bag, books, house keys and flash drive. 

Then, on Fri., Sept. 21 at 5:30 p.m., a 16-year-old boy's backpack was taken from the soccer field while he played soccer. $790 worth of property was taken, including the boy's smart phone, graphing calculator, glasses, wallet and keys.

 

Bikes Go Missing from Rite Aid, Apartment Building

On Tues. Sept. 18 at 4:30 p.m. a 27-year-old man left his bike in the vestibule of Rite Aid at 1419 Newkirk Ave. to shop and when he came back, the bike was gone. The bicycle was a red and gray Trek Mountain Bike, worth $500. 

The next day, on Wed., Sept. 19 at almost 2 a.m., a 34-year-old man's bicycle was taken from the locked garage of his apartment building. The bike, a specialized Tricross Sport Triple that was black with red writing and worth $850, was also locked up. The case is currently under investigation.
