Songs for the Soundtrack of Your Summer
Some of the best songs to go with the warm weather.

What is better than a long summer day spent soaking up the sun while listening to your favorite tunes? With the official start of summer just days away, Ditmas Park Patch thought it best to list some of the best songs to go with the warm weather.
A Classic
Wipeout by The Sufaris (1962)
While most summer jams are known for their catchy lyrics, this song breaks the mold with almost three solid minutes consisting solely of guitar instrumental. Play this on the beach and you're sure to be half-way there to a Frankie Avalon movie.
It's all in the name
In the Summertime by Mungo Jerry (1970)
The song's title says it all. And with one of the simplest choruses going ("Sing along with us, dee dee dee dee dee" … you get the picture) there's no way you can pass up an opportunity to sing along.
You can't escape it
Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen (2012)
It's stuck in my head, it's stuck in your head and it's not going anywhere anytime soon, so why not embrace it? Head to your local watering hole and play this on the juke box to watch a crowd of all ages go crazy.
To add an edge to that soundtrack
Rockaway Beach by The Ramones (1976)
Who doesn't love a good Ramones jam? Written about none other than the Rockaway Beach that is a hop, skip and jump away from Ditmas Park, Rockaway Beach is a great song for a party, road trip or day at, you guessed it, the beach.
