tABLE Health Brings Nutrition to Ditmas Park's New Moms

Class on healthy eating for new moms soon to be offered at Lark Cafe

 

Small Ditmas Park business tABLE health, a class and consulting business that was founded on the premise that fresh, local ingredients are the building blocks of a healthy lifestyle, has become ever more local. 

Co-founders Ora Warmflash and Rachel Saks are offering a class on healthy eating for new moms take place at starting Wed., Sept 19. The class, offered from 2:30-3:30 p.m. for $25, will be an interactive session on healthy eating for new moms.

The class will include recipes and cooking demonstrations for postpartum nutrition needs, and techniques for realistically and permanently losing baby weight.

"When I was pregnant with my daughter, I gained a tremendous amount of weight," said Warmflash. "I wanted to lose the weight but was struggling to eat local. My friend who is a cook and dietitian designed a custom program that took my values in mind."

After losing the weight while being able to eat local and without turning to quick fixes that were filled at sodium and artificial preservatives, Warmflash and Saks, who is a registered dietitian, set out to help other motheres do the same, Warmflash said.

"This is for new mothers and nursing mothers ready to get back in shape and highlights basic postpartum nutrition and recipes high in nutrient," she said. "You can use a quick fix, but is it going to be healthy and delicious?"
