EAST FLATBUSH, BROOKLYN — A 17-year-old boy was shot in broad daylight around 8:50 a.m. Monday by an unidentified shooter inside a black SUV, according to the NYPD.

Police released footage of the drive-by shooting late Tuesday night. In the video, included below, the boy can be seen walking west on Snyder Avenue near the intersection with Utica Avenue. As a black SUV passes him, heading eastbound, the boy doubles over on the sidewalk.

The victim was hit in the chest by two bullets fired from the driver's side of the SUV, police said.

The suspects are believed to have fled eastbound on Snyder Avenue after shooting the teen.

Family members of the victim, as well as "police sources," identified him to the New York Daily News as Gerard "JayJay" Julien. They said they believed the bullets were intended for the teen's big brother, who has a lengthy criminal record.

“It's so sad he ended up in that situation," the boys' mom, Megan Bishop, told the Daily News. "Right now he's stable, he's talking a little." (The NYPD confirmed to Patch that the shooting victim is in stable condition.)

“We're hoping he will pull through, and I know he will pull through," Bishop said.

Anyone with information regarding the suspects or the crime is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS. For Spanish, call 1-888-57-PISTA.

Tips can also be submitted online or by texting 274637, then entering TIP577. All calls are confidential, police said.
