Get Out: Weekend Events in Ditmas Park

Tons to do and see in and around the neighborhood

Every Friday, Ditmas Park Patch will let you know what's going on for the upcoming weekend. Here's this week's run-down:

Join cyclists from the neighborhood Friday at 7 p.m. for the weekly . The purpose is purely for a fun, relaxing group ride through Ditmas Park's streets and there is no planned route; it's decided upon before each ride. Those interested should gather in front of the Cortelyou Library. To be added to the emailing list, click here.

The Sustainable Flatbush crew and Friends of Cortelyou Library will continue their project of converting the 's concrete entrance into a greenspace and public plaza for all to enjoy this Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and all are welcome to join. This Saturday the groups will be be sprucing up treebeds around the plaza.

Macy's is sponsoring  on Saturdays throughout the summer to offer children 15 and under quality fishing instruction and an introduction to aquatic ecology. Children, accompanied by a parent or guardian, will learn about recreational fishing, fishing safety, and fish-friendly techniques. The clinics take place at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Please note: Kids must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Call (718) 287-3400 x303 for details. 

Meet your neighbors and Food, drinks and surprise party favors will be provided. The plaza is located in front of Walgreens on Church Avenue at Beverly Road. If you would like to come early for to pitch in at the Church Avenue clean-up, show up at the plaza at 6 p.m.

All-day Sunday beginning at 8 a.m. in front of the Cortelyou Library, shop for produce and more year-round at . Vendors sell a range of products, including fruits and vegetables, cheese, eggs, turkey, mushrooms, bread, fish and more.
