Weekend Planner: The Lefferts House
The Lefferts Historic House is only a hop, skip and a jump away from the heart of Ditmas Park, so head there this weekend for some wholesome and educational fun.

The Lefferts Historic House in Prospect Park is only a hop, skip and a jump away from the heart of Ditmas Park, so why not head there this weekend for some wholesome and educational fun? The house has a lot going on this weekend, take your pick of activities to partake in:
This weekend, Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6, is Sow & Sew Flax Weekend. From 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., children can learn how flax seed becomes a linen purse.

Kids can help prepare soil and sow flax seeds in the south plot, see how a spinning wheel turns flax into thread and learn how to wove that thread into cloth. Then, using needle and thread, sew a linen pouch for themselves.
Also this weekend is Race around the Farmyard. From 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., the whole family can participate in potato sack races, stilts and other old fashioned games.

For a slower-paced turn of events, take a tour of the Lefferts House 2nd floor. View artifacts from 19th century family life and step inside a furnished 1820s bedroom. Tours are ever half- hour from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. every weekend.
All events are free of admission, with a suggested museum admission for the 2nd floor tours.
The house is located in the Park's Children's Corner near the Carousel and the Prospect Park Zoo.
