The High Line welcomed its newest resident recently, a hyper-realistic sculpture of a 16-foot hand-painted pigeon cast in aluminum posed on a concrete plinth.
Located at the Spur, a nearly mile-and-a-half-long stretch of Manhattan’s High Line, at 30th St. and 10th Ave. The art sculpture titled 'Dinosaur' was the creation of Columbian artist and filmmaker Iván Argote.
The idea behind the sculpture, in the artists own words, is to showcase "how one day we won’t be around anymore, but perhaps a remnant of humanity will live on—as pigeons do—in the dark corners and gaps of future worlds."

'Dinosaur' becomes the fourth art installation and one of 80 proposals submitted for the High Line Plinth in 2020. It follows contemporary art by Simone Leigh, Sam Durant and Pamela Rosenkranz.
The sculpture pays homage to the iconic bird that many city residents have encountered in their daily lives and even nicknamed 'the flying rat'.
