2 Arrested After Bomb Threat At Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Police Say

Police said the incident is under further investigation.

MIDTOWN, NY — Two suspects are in custody following a false bomb threat on Sunday evening at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, New York City Police Department officials said.

According to the NYPD, a man and a woman entered the theater, located at 405 W 55th St. near Ninth Avenue, at 4:20 p.m. on Sunday and dropped a suitcase off at security, which they said contained a bomb.

Then, the pair broke into the theater's auditorium space, without showing proof of admission, during a live performance, police said.

Security officers at the theater detained both suspects and held them until police arrived, NYPD officials said. The audience was not evacuated, police said.

From there, the NYPD arrested the two suspects. Police said there was no explosive device in the suitcase.

Winifred Haun, 66, and Parke Stephen, 72, were both arrested and charged with petty larceny, reckless endangerment, trespassing, and disorderly conduct.

Police said the incident is under further investigation.
