Back To School: East Islip 2023-24 School Calendar

EAST ISLIP, NY — Back-to-school planning has already begun in East Islip, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in East Islip School District.

The first day of school for most students is Wednesday, Sept. 6.

Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change. Here is the list of dates to know for this school year:

East Islip School District.

First Day: Wednesday, Sept. 6

Yom Kippur: Monday, Sept. 25

Columbus Day: Monday, Oct. 9

Superintendent's Conference Day: Tuesday, Nov. 7

Veterans Day Observed: Friday, Nov. 10

Thanksgiving Break: Wednesday, Nov. 22 to Friday, Nov. 24

Winter Break: Monday, Dec. 25, to Monday, Jan. 1

Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Monday, Jan. 15

Mid-Winter Recess: Monday Feb. 19 to Friday, Feb. 23

Holy Thursday: Thursday, March 28

Good Friday: Friday, March 29

Easter Monday: Monday, April 1

Eid al-Fitr: Wednesday, April 10

Spring Recess: Monday, April 22, to Friday, April 26

Emergency Days: Friday, May 24 and Tuesday, May 28*

Memorial Day: Monday, May 27

Juneteenth: Wednesday, June 19

Last Day: Wednesday, June 26

*If school is closed because of inclement weather, the calendar adjustment days will convert as follows:

• 0-1 day-No school May 24 and May 28 The Board of Education reserves the right to revise this calendar if emergency school closings during the school year require additional teaching days.
• 2 days-No school May 24; school will be in session May 28
• 3 days-School in session May 24 and May 28, 4 or more days-school will be open April 26 and work backwards to April 22
