East Islip High School Wins First Baseball Title Since 1991
On Monday, the boys varsity baseball team beat Bethpage to nab the Conference IV title.

EAST ISLIP, NY —For the first time since 1991, East Islip High School has a baseball conference title. On Monday, the boys varsity team bested Bethpage High School 14-2 to take the Conference IV title.
At the game at Mitchel Field, two brothers played at the same time. Senior John Rizzo Jr. pitched 13 strikeouts in a complete game while his younger brother, sophomore Nick Rizzo hit a triple and five RBIs. The boys' father John Rizzo Sr. was on the 1991 champion team.
“We were fortunate to have a great group of talented kids that did everything the coaches asked of them,” Sal Ciampi, the coach, said in a statement.
