EAST ISLIP, NY — The East Islip Board of Education has a new president.

Michael Dorgan was elected as the East Islip Board of Education as president for the 2023-2024 school year during the annual reorganization meeting on Wednesday.

He served as vice president last year and was first elected to the board as a trustee in 2021, the district said.

Stephen Ruland, who also joined the board in 2021, was named vice president.

Last year’s president, Christopher Zachry, who was reelected as a trustee in May, remains on the board.

During the meeting, Dorgan, Ruland, new board trustee Jessica Ciampi and superintendent Paul Manzo were all sworn in by district clerk Stephanie Parker.
