East Islip Varsity Cheer Takes Home First Place In Suffolk Competition
The team will soon compete in UCA Nationals in Orlando.
EAST ISLIP, NY — East Islip High School has a lot to cheer about.
The school's varsity cheer team took first place at the Suffolk Division I small teams competition at Smithtown West on Saturday.
The team of 18 athletes faces one more local competition at Eastport-South Manor on Feb. 4 before heading down to Orlando for the UCA Nationals, a release said.

This season, they also placed fifth out of 21 teams at the UCA Empire Regionals at LIU Post, consisting of all teams from New York state in December.
