Firefighters battled a fire that broke out in a home's basement on Long Island on Friday, according to Suffolk County police.
EAST ISLIP, NY — Long Island firefighters battled a blaze that broke out in a home basement early Friday morning, Suffolk County police told Patch.
The East Islip Fire Department responded to a call reporting basement fire in a Marilynn Street home in East Islip around 1:20 a.m., police said.
Upon arrival, crews under the command of Chief Brian Scharfschwerdt found visible smoke and flames coming from the home, according to BlueRedLine Photography who was on the scene. He added that crews stretched two lines into operation and conducted searched that were delayed by "Collyer’s Mansion conditions," an extreme hoarding situation that creates hazardous conditions, particularly in a fire emergency.
