New Director Of Special Education Appointed By East Islip District
Kristen Rea was recently appointed as the new director of special education.

EAST ISLIP, NY — The East Islip School District has a new director of special education.
The board of education announced on Thursday that educator Kristen Rea was recently appointed the position.
Rea comes to East Islip from the Southampton School District, where she served as a special education associate.

She previously worked as a speech language pathologist in Southampton and before that, at the Mill Neck Manor School for the Deaf.
A Selden resident, Rea earned her bachelor’s degree in communication sciences from Temple University, her master’s degree in speech language pathology at Hofstra University and her educational leadership certificate at Stony Brook University.

“Originally, I went into education as a speech language pathologist because I wanted to help students communicate,” Rea said. “As a director of special education, I can continue my passion by empowering educators to improve their craft. I am thankful for the East Islip School District for giving me this opportunity.”
