LI Police Officer Dies By Apparent Suicide: PBA

The Nassau County police officer's body was found at a state park on Long Island, according to officials.

EAST ISLIP, NY —A police officer was found dead of an apparent suicide at a state park on Long Island last week, according to officials.

On Sunday, Patch reported that Suffolk homicide squad detectives were investigating a non-criminal death that occurred at Heckscher State Park on March 14.

Nassau County Police Benevolent Association President Tommy Shelvin confirmed with Patch that a Nassau County police officer had taken his own life.

Police said his body was recovered in the morning.

On Saturday, Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman addressed the death on social media, writing:
