EAST ISLIP, NY — An "urgent call" for blood donations has been issued by the New York Blood Center after hurricanes ravaged parts of the United States and caused a "significant disruption" in blood collections.

On Monday, the Suffolk County community is rallying to boost blood donations at the Ancient Order of Hibernian Hall in East Islip, from 1:45 to 7:45 p.m.

According to the organization, appointments are preferred but walk-ins are welcome. Those planning on donating blood must remember to eat, drink and bring ID.
