3 East Village Restaurants Named Among NYC's 'Most Anticipated'

A kebab eatery, a queer-led fine-dining restaurant and a burger spot are opening this spring in the East Village with serious anticipation.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — A trio of eateries coming soon to the East Village are among New York City's "most anticipated restaurants" expected to open this spring, according to food review and news website Eater NY.

Food experts from the online publication focused on all things in the New York restaurants world scanned reports of expected openings this spring and put together a list of their 21 favorites.

With the East Village's reputation as of the city's best neighborhoods for food, it's no surprise that three local restaurants made the list.

Here are the eateries that Eater NY says to keep an eye out for this spring.

Kebabwala, opening in April: 82 Second Avenue

Chef Chintan Pandya and restaurateur Roni Mazumdar, who are best known for running the wildly successful Dhamaka, will be serving up kebabs that are "all fresh, flavorful, and criminally delicious," according to the restaurant's website.

HAGS, opening in mid-May: 163 First Avenue

Telly Justice and Camille Lindsley are opening the queer and trans-led East Village eatery after years of working in the restaurant industry.

The spot, located near East 10th Street, will be a fine-dining establishment "by queer people for all people," according to its website.

The restaurant's name is both an ode to "old haggard witchy women" and the goofy acronym "Have A Great Summer!", according to Eater.

The menu has not yet been released.

Superiority Burger, opening in the spring: 119 Avenue A

The popular Lower Manhattan vegan and vegetarian restaurant is moving into the longtime home of the now-shuttered Odessa Diner in the East Village.

Superiority Burger, which has been located at 430 East 9th Street, will be moving into 119 Avenue A.

Everything on Superiority Burger's menu is vegetarian, and the majority of options are also vegan. It also offers weekly gelato options.

It is particularly known for, you guessed it, its burgers.
