This Burger Joint Ranked Best In New York State

EAST VILLAGE, NY — This East Village burger spot serves up the best patties in the state, according to a new TripAdvisor list of its top-rated burger joints.

USA Today published the rankings Tuesday and named Black Iron Burger at 540 East Fifth Street the highest ranked burger bar in New York State with succulent sandwiches made from locally sourced steroid- and hormone-free meats.

Black Iron, which also has a Midtown location and a Park Slope spot in the works, is a burger lover's dream with elaborate specials including the "The Bib Masterpiece," a double 4 oz patty with Swiss cheese, caramelized grilled onions, an organic friend egg and applewood smoked bacon, and "La Porchetta" with a 4 oz patty smothered in Hoisin mayo, cured prok belly, mixed greens, pickled onions and sliced cucumbers.

The eatery also serves turkey, chicken and salmon burgers.

Black Iron Burger at 540 East Fifth Street is open Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Saturday from noon to 11:30 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m.
