What to eat: Pizza. The legendary Staten Island pizza parlor Joe and Pat’s is getting its first Manhattan outpost in the East Village this month. The original opened in 1960, and has long drawn dedicated fans who love the thin-crust pies that the family-owned pizza company is known for. The East Village location is opening in the space previously occupied by Lanza’s, the restaurant that closed last year after more than a century in the neighborhood.

What to eat: Candy. BonBon is a new Swedish-style candy shop created by two Swedes who wanted to bring their homeland’s candy tradition to New York City, according to the shop. The candy store is inspired by the Swedish tradition of getting a bag of candy every Saturday. Inside, you can find more than 100 different types of candy, available by the scoop. The candy shop also offers its sweet treats for delivery.

What to eat: More pizza. Another high-profile pizza parlor is opening on the East Side of Manhattan. This Lower East Side’s Una Pizza Napoletana is returning to Manhattan after a brief hiatus, when master pizza chef Anthony Mangieri brought the his pies to San Francisco. The restaurant serves no slices only 12-inch round pies, and will likely attract big crowds
Here’s Anthony’s first pie in the Orchard St. location. It’s been a wild ride and we are thrilled to finally be opening our doors tomorrow. What to eat: Meat and cheese. As you’d expect with a name like Bar Salumi, the new Gowanus spot features a lengthy selection of meats and cheeses with lots of other small plates (including veggie options) available as well. The restaurant’s dinner menu also includes pastas and other full dishes. Bar Salumi also offers craft cocktails, beer and wine.
