Gas Mask-Clad Burglar Hits Same Union Square Restaurant Twice

The burglars have twice stolen from Vapiano, near Union Square, police said.

UNION SQUARE, NY — Two burglars have stolen $11,000 in two hits on a Union Square restaurant, police said.

Both burglars are still on the loose. Police said the two men first stole from the restaurant, Vapiano, on Feb. 11. The two men entered the restaurant, located at 113 University Place, at about midnight on Feb. 11 and grabbed the restaurant's safe, which held about $4,000 in cash, according to the NYPD.

The same two men targeted Vapiano's again on Monday, when they went to the restaurant at about 2:22 a.m. and grabbed a cash box from the restaurant that held about $7,000, police said.

Police released photos of the men on Thursday, showing both burglars wearing dark clothing and one of them apparently wearing a gas mask.
