The great blues singer, crazy man, original shock-rock performer and the songwriter who penned the classic, “I Put A Spell on You,” died in 2000. But, that was then, this is now, and jazz/blues man Mike Armando, who was Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’s guitarist in the 1970s, has recreated the legendary shows with a new group, appropriately called Resurrection of Screamin Jay Hawkins Band - Author Steve Bergsman - I Put A Spell On You: The Bizarre Life of Screamin' Jay Hawkins.

The band is not just performing the music of Screamin' Jay Hawkins but creating a time machine of one of rock’s true wild men. Mike says. Let the resurrection begin. It’s a show you will long remember.

Members of the band are Mike Armando - guitar, Shakar "TheRealShakar" Brumfield - vocals, Arno Hecht - sax and the founding member of the Uptown Horns, the legendary NYC-based horn section, Andrew Golba - bass, Michael Fox - drums. Bands Website

The part of Screamin' Jay Hawkins is played by Shakur Brumfield who has the vocals and the movements down .They cover all the Screamin’ Jay classic songs, from “Alligator Wine ,” “Wanna Know,” “Constipation Blues” (guess where the toilet comes in!), “Yellow Coat” and of course the song everybody was waiting for, “I Put a Spell on You.” From somebody who got to see Screamin’ Jay Hawkins himself, The Resurrection of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins Band is practically the real thing, and a must to witness.
