Village People Cowboy To Help Continental Throw Final Party
The no-frills bar is hosting a goodbye party on Saturday, Dec. 15.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — East Village watering hole the Continental is having one last wild party before it closes on Dec. 15.
Trigger Smith, the owner of the bar-turned-venue, is calling it quits after 27 years of hosting punk icons such as Steven Van Zandt, Patti Smith and Iggy Pop in the Third Avenue one-story bar between St. Mark's Place and Stuyvesant Street.
Bar-goers will be able to guzzle down the bar's famed "5 shots of anything for $12" deal while partying to a lineup of well-known acts including disco singer Randy Jones from the Village People, guitarist Lenny Kaye from the Patti Smith group, rock musician Jesse Malin and a handful of DJs.
