Dear EVCS Parents and Guardians,

We hope everyone was able to join their class’s Curriculum Night to learn more about what the school year will look like and what is happening in your child’s classroom.  If you missed it, reach out to your teachers for all of the information!  And many thanks to those who attended the first Parent Association Meeting of the year. If you missed it, not to worry – there’s another one later this month!  Our PA will follow up with minutes and more information.  The next PA meeting is Wednesday, October 20 at 7:00pm

It is very important for families to take arrival and dismissal seriously.  Please do your best to limit late drops offs and early pick up days.  Maintaining a regular schedule is best for all of our students.  We also remind everyone that adults are not permitted to enter the cafeteria from the yard. All adults must enter via the main lobby and be checked-in by the safety agent at the front desk. This procedure is applied during all hours of the school day – including during after school.  Thank you for your consideration and for your continued support in keeping our community safe.

The Lost and Found Bin is now set up in the main lobby! If you are missing articles, you can pass by and take a look.  Again, writing your name and school on articles will help –  a Sharpie works great!

Daily Health Screening
Everyone must complete the Health Screening. James will have paper forms on the sidewalk should the online system fail on any given day.
Please take your child’s temperature before leaving for school prior to entering the school yard each day. If you need a thermometer, please let me know!

COVID Testing
COVID testing is a crucial part of our layered approach to keeping our community safe and healthy.  Every week the DOE will be conducting random testing of 10% of our 1st-5th graders who have provided consent.  If your child is in the 1st through 5th grade and you have not already done so, please give your consent now at your child’s NYC Schools Account.  But regardless of your child’s grade, we strongly encourage all of our families to have their children tested regularly.  Please note that testing is free and easy at NYC Health and Hospitals locations.

The yard is open daily at 8:00 a.m.  for those who would like breakfast.  Free to all students.
