Dear EVCS Parents and Guardians,

This was a short, sweet week at EVCS. Class Parents are gearing up to reach out to you with class directories, keep an eye out.  And we need help with Fall Ball 2021!  The PA is in full planning mode now and will run this event with COVID safety in mind.  Get involved.

COVID Testing
When a student is selected to be tested there will be a follow up email coming from Fulgent Genetics. Not to be alarmed, this is the basic follow up to make you aware that the test happened and how to review the results. Liz will also email all tested families using the same address the testing lab uses.  Be sure your phone number and email address is up-to-date in your NYC SA. If you have questions, please let us know. COVID testing is a crucial part of our layered approach to keeping our community safe and healthy.  Every week the DOE will be conducting random testing of 10% of our 1st-5th graders who have provided consent.  If your child is in the 1st through 5th grade and you have not already done so, please give your consent now at your child’s NYC Schools Account.  But regardless of your child’s grade, we strongly encourage all of our families to have their children tested regularly.  Please note that testing is free and easy at NYC Health and Hospitals locations.

EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) Cards and Social Action
Last Year NYC public school kids received EBT cards that contain funds for grocery shopping. If you wish to use the card but are having difficulties please contact James for more information at jamespc@evcs.me.  If you are not planning to use your child’s EBT card, our Social Action Committee would like to help you donate the funds to the soup kitchen on 9th Street and Avenue B for groceries. Interested in donating money from the EBT Card? Please contact the Social Action Committee at socialaction@evcsnyc.org.  Do not let these funds go to waste.

For those who would like breakfast, the yard is open daily at 8:00 a.m.  Free to all students.
