East Villagers: Shop Local for Holiday Presents this Saturday

EAST VILLAGE, NY — East Villagers can shop local and celebrate the holidays this weekend at the third annual holiday shopping event held by the East Village Independent Merchant Association (EVIMA). The market will go all day Saturday, Dec. 10, depending on the various store's hours, and a holiday party will be held in the afternoon.

EVIMA is a coalition of independent merchants that work in the East Village. For the past three years, the group has put on the holiday shopping event to encourage East Villagers to shop local and support small business owners in exchange for special discounts, promotions and in-store treats.

The following East Village stores are participating:

• Anthony Aiden Opticians: Free eye exam with purchase and 15% off complete set of eye glasses all weekend, weekend hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday
• B&H Dairy: 10% off breakfast, lunch and dinner all day, open 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. Saturday
• Bonnie Slotnick Cookbooks: 10% all day and have in-store carolers, open 1-7 p.m. Saturday
• Chinese Hawaiian Kenpo Academy: $150 for 100 days of unlimited classes or $80 per month for 1 weekend class per week (6 month contract), open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday
• East Village Vintage Collective: 15% off store-wide and some mulled cider, open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday
• Exit 9 Gift Emporium: 15% off in store to anyone who mentions the shopping event, open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday
• La Sirena Mexican Gifts: 10% off day of event, open 12-7 p.m. Saturday
• Lucky on B: Free "holiday shot" with purchase, open 12 p.m. to 4 a.m. Saturday
• New York Copy & Print: Spend $100 get 20% off
• Pageant Print Shop: 10% off in store to those who mention the promotion, open 12-8 p.m. Saturday
• Parlor: 15% off all Aveda products & complimentary Holiday make-up tips with Christopher from 3-6 p.m., open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday
• Random Accessories: 15% off plus some sweet treats, open 12-8 p.m. Saturday
• Taste Wine Co.: - Buy one get one 50% off wine tasting class tickets. Open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday
• Three Seat Espresso & Barber: buy 1 coffee get one free from Dec. 5-11.

EVIMA will host a holiday party at Jimmy’s No. 43 from 4-6 p.m. Shoppers can enter a special grab bag raffle with treats from EVIMA members, including a $100 gift certificate from Anthony Aiden Opticians, a character glass and a $20 gift certificate from East Village Vintage Collective, beauty accessories from Parlor and much more. Shoppers will receive one raffle ticket for every store they shop in using a special passport card they can pick up at the participating shops.
