Emmy Squared Plans East Village Location

The popular Brooklyn pizza shop wants to replace GG's, which is closing in the East Village this month.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — The popular Brooklyn pizzeria Emmy Squared plans to open an East Village location, according to permits filed with the city.

The pizza shop is looking to open at 511 E. Fifth St., which currently houses GG's pizza parlor, Eater was first to report. GG's, the old-school pizza shop, confirmed to Eater that it was closing its doors on Dec. 23.

Nicholas Morgenstern, the restauranteur behind GG's, Morgenstern's ice cream, and other New York restaurants, told Eater that he and his business partners had decided to sell the space after three years to focus on other projects.
