Pro-Trump Graffiti Scrawled Onto NYU Muslim Prayer Room Door

"We awoke on November 9th to a chilling wakeup call," the NYU Muslim Students Association says.

DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN, NY — It's starting. And on a campus in the New York University (NYU) system, of all places.

Apparently inspired by President-elect Donald Trump's open racism and Islamophobia, an unknown individual scrawled "Trump" onto the door to a Muslim prayer room at NYU's Tandon School of Engineering in Downtown Brooklyn following Election Day, the NYU Muslim Students Association said Wednesday.

Dozens of NYU alums commented on the Facebook post, saying they were disgusted that something like this could happen on the campus of their alma mater.

"Because many of Trumps followers were against Muslims--many considered their entire religion as a terrorist group," one commenter said. "Writing Trumps name on this door is like writing hitler's name on a jewish person's desk. It's just a name, but a name with meaning."

Pro-Trump graffiti has been reported in several other places across the state and country in the past 48 hours. In Wellsville, New York, a swastika and the words "MAKE AMERICA WHITE AGAIN" were spray-painted onto a baseball dugout. In Canisius College right outside Buffalo, New York, a black baby doll was found with a rope around its neck in an elevator.

In South Philadelphia, a swastika was spray-painted onto a glass window, with the words "Seig Heil 2016."

Graffiti that said "Black Lives Don't Matter and Neither Does Your Votes" appeared in Durham, North Carolina on Wednesday night.
