Teen Arrested For East Village Homicide, Police Say

Police have arrested an 18-year-old for a fatal shooting in the East Village last week, police said.

EAST VILLAGE, NY – Police arrested an 18-year-old and charged him with murder in the fatal shooting of Malik Campbell last week, authorities said.

Campbell, 23, was killed during an argument near 118 Avenue D, part of the Jacob Riis public housing complex in the East Village on Nov. 3. He was found with a gunshot wound to his head before he was pronounced dead at nearby Bellevue hospital, police said.

This week, officers arrested 18-year-old Rashawn Taylor and charged him with murder and criminal possession of a loaded firearm, an NYPD spokeswoman told Patch. Patch was not immediately able to contact Taylor's attorney on Friday afternoon.

It's unclear whether other attackers were involved in the shooting. Authorities were not immediately able to release additional details about the shooting on Friday.
