EAST VILLAGE, NY — A man was arrested after leaving behind his gun in an Uber and then texting the driver claiming he was a police officer who had dropped his service weapon, the New York Post reports.
Uber rider Henry Figueroa left behind a loaded Smith & Wesson .380 in an Uber driver's car on Feb. 28, during a trip from the East Village to his Harlem home, the Post reported.
Figueroa texted the driver to get the gun back, claiming he was a police officer "wondering if I dropped by side arm," according to the Post. The Uber driver had already reported the gun to the police, who told the driver to text back and arrange a meet-up.
