What to eat: Plant-based Mexican food. The latest restaurant from Matthew Kenney is perfect for vegetarians. The menu has a wide-ranging menu including spicy cauliflower tacos and roasted pumpkin enchiladas. In addition to the full taco menu, diners can chose from a variety of sharing plates. Kenney is famous for creating a plant-based menu in restaurants throughout the country in an effort to create more sustainable and healthier dining options. Bar Verde also has a sizable drink menu with margaritas, mojitos and a drink called the “Manhattan Vegan.”

What to eat: Pasta. This new fast-casual restaurant prides itself on serving up a hearty dish of pasta in just minutes after you order. Every menu item is less than $10 and served in under three minutes, the restaurant claims. Pasta bowls like whole grain rigatoni for $7.50, gluten-free penne for $7, and spaghetti and meatballs for $8 are all included on the menu.
Gluten-free penne and marinara. This is the first time this pasta can be found in the US. We love it because the corn lends a rigid bite in texture, and the rice adds the wonderful “elasticity” or chew- the two most fundamental aspects of a great dried pasta shape. Per Nonna's standards, of course.
