Yelp Reviewer Bashes East Village Bodega for Having a Cat

"To my dismay," the bodega reviewer writes, "there was a cat, perched upon some cases of Budweiser in the middle of the store!!"

EAST VILLAGE, NY — A clueless Yelp reviewer named Diana D. was shamed across the internet Tuesday by New York City's powerful bodega-cat lobby, after Twitter personality Syn Kami outed her for talking smack on the cat who lives at SK Deli Market on 2nd Avenue.

"You gotta be a miserable gentrifying a** b***h to yelp about the bodega cat," Kami wrote.

Diana D.'s one-star review was no longer showing up on SK Deli's Yelp page by Tuesday evening.

However, a cached version of the page shows she did, in fact, post the review, and did not, in fact, appear to be kidding.

"I've ordered from SK before and the sandwiches are pretty good," Diana D. wrote in her Sept. 9 review. "Today, however, I decided to stop in and grab a sandwich. To my dismay- there was a cat, perched upon some cases of Budweiser in the middle of the store!! Besides being allergic to cats, I wonder what the health code say about this?"

The rest of Yelp — and the city — hasn't taken kindly to Diana D.'s assault on an NYC institution.

"You had to have lost your mind to post something negative due to a bodega cat," one Yelper wrote in response. And another: "I bet he has more character than you honey."

Reached by phone Tuesday evening, an employee at SK Deli confirmed that a black-and-white cat like the one pictured in the offending review does indeed live at the bodega. However, the employee said it was only his second day on the job, so he wasn't yet familiar with the name or distinct persona of SK's resident rat killer turned overnight celebrity. We'll update with more details on our hero as soon as we have them.

Patch has also reached out to Diana D. for comment. As of this posting, we have yet to hear back.
