4 Bicycles Reported Stolen in Montauk, Amagansett

Graffiti reported in Amagansett, too.

The following incidents were reported this week from the East Hampton Town police.

AMAGANSETT

β€’ A trek bicycle with an Amagansett Bike and Beach sticker o the frame was taken from a Shepherds Lane property on the night of Aug. 27. The homeowner said the bike, worth $300, was leaning up against his front gate. It was taken between 9 p.m. on Aug. 27 at 9 a.m. on Aug. 28.

β€’ Graffiti was found on the staircase leading down to the water on Captain's Walk and Waters Edge at Barnes Landing Beach, and a few other areas on Barnes Hole Road, on Sept. 12.

MONTAUK

β€’ An act of public lewdness was reported in Kirk Park in Montauk on Sept. 5 at about 4 p.m. A woman was cutting through the path from Second House Road when she heard someone clear his throat in an attempt to get her attention and then wave her to come closer. Police did not release the details of what happened next. The woman filed the report the following day.

β€’ Two bicycles were stolen from a house on Hoover Court on the night of Sept. 5. A red Giant mountain bike that was four years old and valued at about $500, and a white Giant road bike purchased just two days earlier for about $2,000, were taken from the side of his house. He said he heard his dogs barking at about 4:30 a.m., but didn't see anything.

β€’ A black Trek hybrid bicycle was stolen from a bicycle rack at Sole East Resort on Second House Road on Sept. 9. The victim, who works at the resort, said he last saw his bike at about 4 p.m., and then was alerted it was gone at about 10:45 p.m. The front tire, which was locked to the rack, was left behind. A fellow employee said he saw the bicycle there at 10:30 p.m., leaving only a 15-minute window it was taken. The victim said the bike was worth $570.

β€’ Two tires on a Jeep parked in front of the 668 Gig Shack on Montauk Highway were slashed sometime between Aug. 31 at 11 p.m. and Sept. 1 at 1 a.m. The car owner said the tires were Dick Cepek tires and were worth $800.
