Amagansett Crash Kills One Friday Night
After the fire department extinguished a vehicle fire, they found a single occupant dead.

Previously:Â Detectives are investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on Red Dirt Road in Amagansett on Friday night.
A 2002 Toyota 4Runner was found on fire off the roadway when police officers and Amagansett Fire Department personnel responded at 11:26 p.m., according East Hampton Town Detective Sgt. Robert Gurney.

"After the fire was extinguished, the single occupant of the vehicle was found deceased," Gurney said in a statement released on Saturday morning.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the 4Runner failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, west of Old Stone Highway, and left the road, striking trees and overturning.

Detectives did not release the name of the person killed.Â
Police are continuing to investigate, in conjunction with the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's office. Anyone with information is asked to contact the East Hampton Town Police Department at 631-537-7575.
This is the second fatal car accident of 2013. On Feb. 7, Kelly A. Doroski, a 23-year-old Sag Harbor woman, died when her vehicle went into the woods off Route 114 in East Hampton. She was also the only person in the vehicle at the time.Â
