But no matter how warm it is, inland areas such as New York City and parts of the Hudson Valley will see higher temps, the NWS says.
LONG ISLAND, NY — Mother Nature is sending a blast of summer across Long Island this week.
But although the weather is supposed to be "unseasonably" warm on Long Island, experts are not predicting a heat wave — defined as three or more days of weather with temperatures at 90 degrees or higher.
According to Dominic Ramunni, meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Upton: "We don't have any heat wave headlines for the island," and he said he doesn't expect any to be issued, at least not in Suffolk County.

Ramunni said the weather will definitely be "unseasonably warm" for the rest of the week, with temperatures in the upper 80s and humidity bringing the heat index, or how hot it actually feels, to the low to mid 90s, he said.
"We expect early season warmth and heat," he said.

Thursday and Friday are expected to bring the peak temperatures, with highs approaching 90 degrees across Long Island and the heat index close to 95 degrees, he said.
Long Island will fare better due to ocean winds, the NWS said, with inland areas such as the Hudson Valley and New York City seeing higher temperatures and humidity.
