The following information was supplied by the East Hampton Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.
• Two men were arrested on drug charges outside of the Memory Motel in Montauk in the early morning hours of Sept. 1.
Police said they saw two men standing under a spotlight on the side of the motel on Montauk Highway at about 2:30 a.m. Police confronted the men, and noticed clear plastic baggies with a white powdery substance in their hands, they said. The substances later tested positive for cocaine.
Matthew W. Hull, 24, of St. James, was placed under arrest, and and a search found a second clear bag containing a white powdery substance in his pants pocket, police said. He was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony. The other man, a 25-year-old from San Francisco, Calif., was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.
Later that morning, Hull was released on $1,500 bail, and the man from California was released on $500 bail.
• A 23-year-old Brooklyn man was arrested on three misdemeanor drug charges after police saw him urinating in public in Montauk on Sept. 1. At about 1:55 a.m., police approached the man and asked him to identify himself. When he reached into his pant pocket for his identification, he removed a metal capsule, but then tried to conceal. The officer put him in handcuffs as a safety precaution, and search the capsule to find a mix of pills, later identified as Alprazolam, Temazepam, and Lubiprostone. He was charged with three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and one count of possessing controlled substances outside of the original container, a violation of the Public Health Law. He was also issued a town code summons for public urination. Released on $100 bail and an appearance ticket, he will be arraigned on Sept. 5.
