Cops: Stun Gun Found at Illegal Camp Site in Montauk
The 40-year-old man was charged with a misdemeanor.

A man from Plattsburgh, N.Y., was arrested on a weapons charge after an electric stun gun was found amongst his personal items in the woods in Montauk, East Hampton Town police said.
An anonymous caller told police there was a camp site on the west side of the parking area near the state launching ramp off South Erie Street on Oct. 29. When police went to investigate, they found "an erected tent that appeared to be lived in" and a bicycle, along with personal effects.
The stun gun, which is illegal in the State of New York, was near the bicycle, police said. No one was around, however.
"Ultimately the defendant was contacted," Detective Lt. Chris Anderson said.
The next day the 40-year-old man was arrested at the Montauk precinct at about 11:30 p.m. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor. He was released on $500 station house bail.
