Don't Forget: Ballet Recitals Twirl Into Guild Hall This Weekend
Hampton Ballet dancers perform "The Graduation Ball" and "Carnival of the Animals."
The Hampton Ballet Theatre School students will show off their pirouettes, arabesques, and relevés during their spring recitals at Guild Hall in East Hampton Village this weekend.
When dancers take the stage at the John Drew Theater, the school is premiering two new ballets, “The Graduation Ball” and “Carnival of the Animals” — as well as some other surprises.
“The Graduation Ball” is a comedic ballet about about a military boys school attending a ball at an all girls school. “Carnival of the Animals” is a collection of barnyard, zoo and wild animals dancing on the stage to the whimsical score of Camille Saint-Saens.
Now in its sixth year, Sara Jo Strickland directs and choreographs the ballets, with costumes designed by Yuka Silvera. Sebastian Paczynski designs the lighting.
The first performance is Friday at 7:30 p.m., followed by another performance Saturday at the same time, and Sunday at 2 p.m.
There's still time to grab advanced tickets at $25 for adults and $20 for children under 12. Premium orchestra, private box seating and group rates are also available in the John Drew Theater.
