Driver, 18, Arrested After Striking Pedestrian In Amagansett, Fleeing, With Juvenile Under 17 In SUV: Police

The crash took place Friday afternoon in Amagansett, seriously injuring the pedestrian, police say.

AMAGANSETT, NY — A West Babylon woman, 18, was arrested Friday after striking a pedestrian in Amagansett and fleeing the scene with a juvenile under 17 in the vehicle, police said.

According to East Hampton town police, the crash took place on Montauk Highway at about 2:20 p.m. Brianna R. Becci was driving a 2016 Chevrolet SUV eastbound on Montauk Highway when she struck a woman, 39, of Amagansett, as she entered a crosswalk, police said.

Following the incident, Becci fled the scene but was located a short time later by law enforcement, police said.

The pedestrian received treatment from the Amagansett Fire Department and was transported to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital where she is listed in stable condition, police said.

Becci was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash resulting in serious injury; acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17 (due to having a juvenile passenger in her vehicle); and traffic infractions, police said.

Becci was released on an appearance ticket with a return court date of November 26 out of East Hampton Town Justice Court, police said.
