Here are the top stories in East Hampton today:
- Argyle Executive Forum provides its employees, all 60 of them, with a vacation retreat in the Hamptons. Located one block from the water, the 2,000 square foot, three-bedroom, three-bathroom house on East Hampton's bay side has a pool, patio, grill and a gym. The company uses a lottery system to choose vacation dates, but no matter, they are guaranteed a trip at least once a year. (Subscription: Newsday)
- The annual State of the Bays address will be held on Wednesday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m., both in-person and via Zoom. Dr. Christopher Gobler of the School of Marine & Atmospheric Sciences at Stony Brook Southampton will talk about "the role of emerging contaminants and nitrogen levels in groundwater in degrading coastal ecosystems, as well as climate change." Here’s the Zoom link to this lecture, which will be held in Duke Lecture Hall in Chancellor’s Hall on the campus of Stony Brook Southampton. (East End Beacon)
- Long Island Spring Restaurant Week is scheduled for April 24-May 1. Want to help your favorite participating restaurant? Book a reservation with one of the 55 restaurants currently listed as participants across Nassau and Suffolk counties. The participating restaurants offer fixed price menus for lunch and/or dinner. The lunch is two-courses for $20, while the dinner is three-courses and priced at $25, $35 or $42. LI Spring Restaurant Week in Suffolk County participants are listed here. (LongIsland.com)
- Though hurricane season doesn't officially start until June 1, weather experts are advising to prepare now. For the past couple of years, Long Island has been dealing with preseason storms and a very active hurricane season; last year, there were 21 named storms and seven hurricanes. Experts are advising that coupled with the ongoing global supply chain issues paired with preseason storms, now is the time to get your hurricane plan in place. (Patch)
